We are currently looking to hire a Hardware Electronics Design Manager with experience in developing and bringing consumer electronics products to market. The individual has a history of team leadership; product development from the planning & scheduling stages through to production manufacturing and also possesses a strong background in design, development and debugging of board level microprocessor based embedded hardware systems and analog discrete electronics.
The Senior Hardware Electronics Engineer will be responsible for leading electronics hardware development. The work includes regular interface with research, marketing, firmware, mechanical and industrialization teams and subcontractors to ensure that the new products deliver quality, robustness and features that our customers expect.
The ideal successful candidate must be interested in working in a start-up environment, have the ability to wear many hats, have strong communication skills and possess above average decision making skills in order to effectively collaborate and work as part of a multi-disciplinary design team.
Responsibilities:
Lead design, development, maintenance, test, quality and performance of embedded system hardware (including analog circuits) through to manufacturing in a high volume environment
Manage development and manufacturing subcontractors
In partnership with other team members, determine hardware requirements, analyze firmware/hardware performance and trade-offs
Manage and perform tasks including debug, bring-up, Beta and production development
Participate in design reviews and documentation
Develop and work to schedule
Requirements:
Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
Master’s degree is a plus
Minimum 10 years + experience designing and managing hardware projects for electronics products
Solid history of performance on several development projects from concept to industrialization (development, design, debug, and test through to high volume mass production)
Proven history managing manufacturing subcontractors
Experience developing for compliance with industry standards and certifications (EMC/EMI design and testing including preventative approaches)
Experience in embedded hardware design with an emphasis on microprocessor systems (ARM, TI 430, etc.), related peripherals (oscillators, RAM, Flash, EEPROM, power management systems, etc.) and battery and battery management subsystems
Experience includes protocol definition in wireless environment such as Bluetooth LE, USB, and low level communications such as SPI, I2C, etc.
Background also includes programming, schematic capture, knowledge of PCB layout, and EMI optimization
Background in analog data-acquisition systems (analog filters) a plus
Experience developing test strategy and test jig hardware for a high volume production environment
History of development of enclosed products, including thermal considerations.
Experience with mechanical enclosures is a plus (injection molding, etc)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills will also be needed for documentation creatioemman, discussions, correspondence, etc.
