Description: Electrical Engineer, Skybox
Product: Satellite Avionics
Our computational challenges are so big, complex and unique we can’t just purchase off-the-shelf hardware, we’ve got to make it ourselves. Your team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google’s services. As an Electrical Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world’s largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.
You will develop electrical system and subsystem level requirements driven by product and performance needs, including satellite avionics, GNC, power and payload componentry. You will also be responsible for the specification, design and analysis of analog and digital systems for next generation high performance imaging satellites. You will manage the overall process of the design cycle from the prototyping phase through lab-based hardware test and validation to release for manufacturing. You will work with other team members and vendors to develop high performance, high reliability and cost effective subsystems to be deployed in a small satellite environment.
Responsibilities:
Specify system and subsystem requirements for satellite electrical assemblies.
Collaborate with flight software, ground software and product teams to ensure hardware circuits operate with other functions and meet overall system needs.
Design electrical circuits and create schematics and PCB layouts.
Develop and perform system and subsystem level tests including electrical fixtures and scripts with data acquisition and analysis.
Work in the lab to bring-up, test and validate physical hardware.
Minimum qualifications:
BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
7 years of experience in electrical engineering.
Experience with high speed digital and analog circuit design and analysis.
Experience performing schematic capture and layout generation as well as hands on lab work and test. Experience delivering a finished design to production.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience with microcontrollers, processors, memories (DDR/NAND/NOR), FPGAs, ADC/DACs, power and analog circuit design.
Experience with high-speed digital system design. Experience with UARTs, SPI, CAN, I2C, SATA, CameraLink, other I/O standards.
Schematic capture and PCB layout experience with Altium, Spice, Hyperlynx, Polar and other circuit simulation and analysis tools. Modelsim and Xilinx ISE/Vivado.
Extensive lab experience including oscilloscope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer use.
Python/Perl/Shell scripting experience. Experience with C, including embedded microcontroller and driver development; Verilog/VHDL; MATLAB.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent in a team environment.
